AMW Studio is a queer Black women-owned creative studio founded by photographer Amaris W. and built alongside partner, creative director and second shooter Amari B.

Based in Connecticut and serving the Tri-State and New England regions, the duo brings a warm, collaborative approach to photography rooted in storytelling, design, and real connection. Outside of the camera, they love music, hosting gatherings, celebrating community, creating with their kids, and finding joy in the everyday. Whether working together or independently, their work is grounded in care, creativity, and a genuine love for capturing people authentically.

Amaris W.

Founder + Lead Photographer

Amaris is a visual storyteller known for creating imagery that feels both intentional and expressive. Their work is rooted in strong composition, often using framing, light, and environment to shape visuals that communicate more abstractly—inviting feeling over literal narrative. With a background in architecture and interior design, they bring a technical and structured approach to her process, balancing precision with creativity to produce refined, compelling results. Amaris thrives in collaboration, working closely with artists, brands, and individuals to develop and elevate their ideas into fully realized visual concepts. Their approach blends curiosity, design sensibility, and technical expertise, resulting in imagery that is both thoughtfully crafted and visually impactful.

Amari is our Creative Director and second shooter, bringing a vibrant energy and thoughtful approach to every session. With a background in photographing couples, families, children, and events—and professional experience working with kids—she has a natural ability to connect, communicate, and create a comfortable, engaging environment for everyone in front of the camera. Her infectious smile and warm personality shine through in her work, paired with a strong eye for angles, posing, and visual storytelling. From developing concepts to shaping full scenes, Amari helps bring each shoot to life with intention and creativity.
